Bug Ego
Makoto Hitsujiya, also known by the original Japanese title *Bagu Ego*, is a charismatic transfer student who arrives at his new high school with a simple desire to help his socially isolated classmate, Takehiro Kokudo. The status quo of their student lives is shattered when Kokudo reveals a mysterious notebook filled with "life hacks" that are far more than just clever tips they are literal glitches in the fabric of reality. These "bugs" allow them to perform impossible feats, from manipulating the physical world to bending the rules of social interaction through precise, ritualistic actions. What begins as a series of harmless experiments quickly escalates into a high-stakes obsession as Hitsujiya becomes addicted to the thrill of exploiting the world’s hidden mechanics.
Navigating the surreal boundary between dark comedy and existential horror, the duo finds their bond tested by the devastating consequences of failing to execute a "hack" with perfect precision. While Kokudo fears the addictive nature of their discoveries, the arrival of their hyper-competent classmate Yuki Hashira introduces a new layer of conflict, as her reckless scientific curiosity clashes with their need for caution. Together, they must confront external threats and internal moral dilemmas that arise when the laws of nature are treated as mere suggestions. Driven by an unwavering curiosity to document every hidden error in existence, Hitsujiya and his friends strive to master the impossible and find true human connection in a world that is fundamentally broken.
